Rafting in "Vardzia"

Description

We would like to represent extreme rafting on the Kura(Mtkvari) River, which takes place in the mountains of Eastern Georgia in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region. It is a unique rafting tour 17 km stretch, which is held in a small period of the season from the middle of April till the middle of June. During this trip, we will raft the river, including the Tmogvi canyon with intricate rapids and amazing sceneries.   

The rafting starts a little bit upper of the Vardzia caves and finishes close to the Khertvisi fortress. There are about ten difficult rapids on this descent. We will raft through the Tmogvi canyon and can look at the ancient fortress Tmogvi, which built in the rock, and other unusual sights from the bottom of the canyon, from the locations that not readily available to standard visitors.

We are offering this trip only for two months into the year. The water level in the river is well only in the snow-melting season; at other times, the water level usually is too low for the standard descent.

• Rafting duration is 17 km
• The work season is from the middle of April to the middle of June.
• The grade is 3-4 class (depends on the water level)
• Rafting time is 2,5 -3,5 hours.

We offer the trip in the “one-day” format with departure from Borjomi

The tour price offered for the group, located in Borjomi city.

We advise choosing the “two-days” trip with accommodation at night in Akhaltsikhe or Vardzia if you located in Kutaisi, Tbilisi or Batumi cities. You can check the price of a two days trip with our manager.  

The price of the tour is:

1680 GEL for groups up to 6 participants. For groups of over 6 participants, the participant fee is 330 GEL per person.

This route is available only for participants over 14 years old.

We provide additional discounts for the group of over 12 participants and tour companies.
