Amazing Machakhela
Description
The Machakhela Gorge has been a National Park since 2012. It is a fantastic place located just 30 kilometers away from Batumi in the south of Adjara.
The inhabitants of this area were one of the most famous metallurgists of the Caucasus in ancient times. That land had several names like Jeriya, Colchis, Lazika in different centuries. Here passed one of the critical trade ways in the middle ages, during Queen Tamara regened on the Georgian throne. Many arched bridges and fortresses remain here from those times, several of them we will see during the journey.
Ottoman Empire in the 15th century captured all of the surrounded areas exclude only Keda and Machakhela. Those lands remained the independence until the 18th century due to the favorable location, courage of residents, and flintlock rifles produced here with high quality. The Guns of Machakhela were the mark of the quality of the weapon on the whole Caucasus.
In Soviet times, it was an advanced agricultural region, and Machakhela products enjoyed high popularity in Batumi.

During the excursion of the Machakhela valley, we will see:
- We will drive through the Kakhoberian lowland by the left side of the Chorokhi river.
- Visit the confluence of the Chorokhi and Adjaristkali rivers.
- Climb on the Gvara Fortress.
- Defensive pillbox of Second World War
- Look the watermill on the Skurdidi river
- See the ancient Chemlara and Mirveti arch bridges across a mount rivers
- Visit the local house-museum
- Visit the Chakhuneti and Mirveti waterfalls
- Join to the real Georgian feast

The best time to start excursion from Batumi is 10-11 am
The excursion provides all year round.
The duration of the journey is 4-7 hours, depending of the program.

Мачахела - сказка, ставшая реальностью!!! Необычайно красивая природа и пейзажи, чистейший горный воздух, реки, водопады они просто просто завораживают! Старинные водяные мельницы - это как прыжок в прошлое... Любое фото можно ставить на открытку! Огромная благодарность Даше за проведенную экскурсию, которая начинается как только вы садитесь в машину, ждите в следующем году!

Спасибо за прекрасный день! Мы, хоть и не надолго, но прикоснулись к настоящей горной Аджарии с ее тенистыми и прохладными водопадами, великолепными видами и непосредственными коровами :) Арочные мосты - это отдельное чудо! Успехов вам в дальнейшей работе!

Хорошая и лаконичная экскурсия. Гид (у нас был Сергей) интересно рассказывал, узнали много интересного о истории региона. Хотелось бы вернуться на место, где бурлила река и пробыть там подольше, может даже устроить пикник. В целом, все очень классно! Спасибо огромное!

Хочется еще раз сказать спасибо! Это была потрясающая поездка! Как приятно путешествовать с человеком, который знает и любит страну в которой живет. Дарья - отличный экскурсовод и приятный собеседник. Мачахела - потрясающее место. Горы, реки, водопады, древняя культура, все собрано в одном маленьком ущелье. Успехов и еще раз спасибо!
