Rafting tour "Machakhela"

Description

The Machakhela River located in Western Georgia near the state border with Turkey. This place was once the center of cultural and commercial life, as evidenced by several arched bridges over the rivers, the ruins of fortresses and the remains of old roads. Despite the fact that the region is popular among tourists, the nature and way of life in the gorge has preserved its extraordinary beauty and authenticity.

Rafting along the River Machakhlistkali begins with a dam just above the village Sindieti, and ends near the bridge in the Mirveti village, after flowing into the Chorokhi River.

The length of the route is 7 kilometers, the rafting itself takes about 60 minutes.

This route is great for both beginners and those who have already had an experience of rafting.

The route is available during snowmelt from mid-April to mid-June, as well as during the autumn rainfalls in October. The rest of the time rafting on the river is impossible due to the small amount of water in Machakhela.

Tour details

The optimal departing time from Batumi is 10 am

On our way to the starting point of the route, we visit the confluence of the Chorokhi and Adjaristskali rivers, the monument to the arms of Machakhela.

At the start point, we receive briefing and training on the main commands and actions on the raft, put on the equipment, and then ride the rafts for 60 minutes.

A small picnic will be organized at the finish point, and those who wish will be able to walk through the village of Mirveti to the waterfall and bridge of the same name.
